-Family gatherings-

It is my brother's 21st birthday celebration today and instead of standing at the door ushering today, instead I'm home helping out in whatever ways I can cook.

Now for all those of you out there who claims I'm a XQLM, compared to my aunts, I'm far from it. My kitchen is now a buzz of activity with my aunt having just cooked mee goreng and now they are in the midst of cooking lontong. Another of my aunts also has baked peanut cookies, kueh bangkit and kueh lapis. Now that is truly a labour of love. My efforts at making pineapple tarts pale in comparison.

The buzz of activity also means that I need to postpone my pandan cake baking to tomorrow. So that means I need to wake up early tomorrow. Ah but I digress...

This gathering inevidently reminds me of bygone times when the nonyas will gather together at each other's house to have a cooking fiesta. The feeling is indeed very heartwarming when you come together to cook with your own sisters. Alas my sister is not very into cooking and only enters the kitchen when she feels like it. Or is entertaining guests. As for my brother, well his belief that it is the woman's job to cook. Hmppphhh!!

So the next best I can do is to look for a guy who can cook? Haha..
